Personal Radiation Monitoring Service

The Personal Radiation Monitoring Service (PRMS) was established by the Services Unit of the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority, in 2012, following the promulgation of the Radiation Protection (Personal Radiation Monitoring Service) Regulations 2012 [GN No. 125 of 2012].

The PRMS is basically for the monitoring of the occupational exposure of workers to ionising radiation using passive dosimeters.   The service is open to all workers potentially exposed to radiation. The technology being used by the RSNSA Services Unit is the Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL).
